What is LPG

Details of the chemical make up

A by-product of the crude oil refinement process, LPG is a mixture of butane and propane.

Commercial Propane predominantly consists of hydrocarbons containing three carbon atoms, mainly propane (C3H8):

Commercial Butane predominantly consists of hydrocarbons containing four carbon atoms, mainly n- and iso – butanes (C4H10):

LPG is made up of chemically simple and pure hydrocarbons and so mixes easily with air allowing almost complete combustion whilst producing less smog forming emissions. Consequently, vehicle emissions from autogas are generally lower than those from conventional fuels.

It is especially suitable for using in motor-traction because it gives excellent performance in terms of power, flexibility and compatibility with the engine processes. It burns without leaving carbon deposits, it extends the life of spark plugs and pistons and it maintains the same engine oil properties for longer. It has a higher octane rating than petrol, so can enhance performance of your vehicle.
