We recognise that BRC (GB) doesn’t exist in isolation nor is it simply a way of making money. Our employees depend on our business. Customers, suppliers and the local community are all affected by us and what we do. Our products have an impact on the environment.
Our corporate responsibility is about understanding our business impact on the wider world and considering how we can use this impact in a positive way.
It means taking a responsible attitude, going beyond the minimum legal requirements and following straightforward principles that apply, no matter the size of business we have.
BRC (GB) has been committed to environmental causes from the very start of our business, developing a business plan based on decreasing pollution and thinking well beyond a narrow focus on profitability.
BRC (GB) have been aiming to reduce particulate emissions (PM10 and PM25) nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon emissions (CO2) since we began. Air quality should be considered the prime issue since it has been estimated that over 24,000 people died prematurely in the UK in 1998, and that number has been increasing to 50,000 premature deaths estimated this year as a result of this pollution. We recognise that environmental concerns impact all of us – as individuals, as an organisation and collectively as global citizens, and are striving to spread awareness of the benefits of low carbon emissions and pure air.
Our contracts include a strong emphasis on helping our customers reduce their carbon and polluting emissions, and as a supplier we can help to ensure that our entire customer base embraces strong social and environmental principles. Our environmental and economical stance has enabled us to forge new and exciting business links and develop projects which are innovative and challenging. Our aim is to continue to make a positive impact through our products, cultural sensitivity, customer service and any other ways we engage with our surroundings.
We provide a healthy, safe and supportive environment for our staff, without whose commitment we could not achieve our business and corporate responsibility goals. Our business functions through the respect we have for our stakeholders, including employees, customers, and shareholders. We strive to make BRC (GB) a great place to work, drawing outstanding personalities to a company that acts on its values.
